Welcome to Chapala Mexican Restaurant, a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Lexington, South Carolina. Conveniently located at 1792 S Lake Dr, this restaurant has garnered rave reviews for its authentic and flavorful Mexican cuisine. With a phone number of +1 803-957-0840, you can easily reach out to savor a meal that promises to delight your taste buds.
Chapala stands out for its vibrant dishes and warm hospitality. Customers have described their experiences as nothing short of transformational. Paul D, a recent patron, shared that he had a 'foodgasm' after indulging in the enchiladas verdes, while his wife couldn't resist doing a happy dance over her tantalizing chicken tacos. This speaks volumes about the quality of food served here. The menu is a delightful mix, catering to both classic and innovative palates.
Another highlight is their Taco de Birria Beef, lauded by GL Hall, who paired it with a shot of Jose Cuervo and a refreshing Sol. The dishes are beautifully complemented by the robust homemade salsa, ensuring an explosion of flavor in every bite. And let’s not overlook the Espinacha Queso Dip, which quickly became a fan favorite—a must-try for any first-timer! The balance of cheese and spices provides a perfect starter to your meal.
When you visit, you'll be greeted by attentive staff, like the memorable Jose R, who prides himself on excellent customer service without being intrusive. Many diners, including Lisa Hintz, appreciate the combination of quality food and service that exceeds expectations—often at an affordable price point.
While some guests have noted fluctuations in pricing and service consistency over the years, what remains undeniable is Chapala’s ability to bring authentic Mexican flavors to the table. The atmosphere may not be lavish, but it is a welcoming space that focuses on what truly matters—the food.
Whether you're a local resident or just passing through, Chapala Mexican Restaurant promises an inviting experience filled with delectable dishes that will leave you wanting more. I highly recommend visiting to discover your new favorite Mexican spot in town!
“ Food was amazing!! Wife had the chicken tacos and I had the enchiladas verdes... she took a bite and did her happy dance and I had a food-gasm... Highly recommend of you haven't been!! ”
“ Updated 8/13/2025 Back at Chapala, conveniently located less than a quarter mile from my General Physician. (BONUS) My new favorite is Taco de Birria Beef!! I started with a shot of JC (Jose Quervo) Especially and a Sol, cervesa. Also, the salsa has excellent robust flavor, only a slight hint of heat. I had to get the Espinacha Queso Dip. So good, and I squeeze in a veggie!! LOL! The lovely, Emily, is my bartendress and waitstaff. It is early, just after 11 am, so kind of quiet -- my preferred time to eat -- either early or late dodging the masses. Mass, they do at this location in White Knoll. Very convenient to many businesses and homes near the Platt Springs Rd and Hwy 6 intersection. Please bop on by and grab some amazing food!! See a couple photos that are attached. Stop by anytime for really good food!! Chapala is located in a strip of shops and restaurants. Popped in for a quick lunch. Sat in the cantina section. Cold cervesa in bottles and on tap. They have a limited tequila selection, but enough from which to choose. Repasado, Silver, and Blanco tequilas are all available. Ordered a combination plate -- chicken enchilada, beef tostada, and beef taco. All items were hot and flavorful. Timely service. Typical Mexican decor. ”
“ First time coming here and would highly recommend! Got the fajita quesadilla and it was phenomenal. Will be coming back! ”
“ Updated Review from 2024 While we prefer the St. Andrew's location, we do stop in from time to time and uts been great over the past couple of years. Pics are recent from 2024! Previously from 2018 We've been loyal customers for years until recently. This year they went up tremendously on their prices across the menu. They also have started failing with customer service. We recently had an issue where a cheese dip to go was turned over and spilled everywhere because the lid wasn't the right fit to the container. They refused to replace it even though it wasn't our fault. It was just an odd situation to be in, considering how much things have changed this year even with the same owner. Sad to say goodbye after raising our children there, but I'd rather spend my money where it's appreciated. ”
“ First time dining here and we were quite pleased. The food & service exceeded our expectations. Jose R. was our server & he was attentive without being annoying. The food was inexpensive & good. The atmosphere wasn’t much to get excited about however. * they do charge a convenience fee which annoys the hell out of me ”
